Tell us about yourself

I WAS BORN IN DALLAS AND LIVED THERE UNTIL THE AGE OF 7 WHEN MY MOM REMARRIED AND MOVED US OUT TO THE “COUNTRY” ARGYLE WHERE I GREW UP. I WENT TO NORTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL AND PLAYED VOLLEYBALL AND BASKETBALL. I EVEN ATTEMPTED TO RUN TRACK UNTIL I CAME TO MY SENSES AND REALIZED THAT RUNNING WAS NOT MY THING (IT STILL ISN’T). I WENT TO COLLEGE AT WHAT IS NOW KNOWN AS TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY AT SAN MARCOS, HOWEVER, WHEN I WAS THERE IT WAS SOUTHWEST TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY (GO BOBCATS) I CAME BACK TO DFW AND HAVE LIVED ALL OVER THE METROPLEX. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A HOME IN CARROLLTON WHERE I LIVE WITH MY ALMOST 3 YEAR OLD SON MADDON AND MY FAT CATS MAX AND NOODLE.

Why did you decide to pursue CrossFit?

I HAD DABBLED IN CROSSFIT OFF AND ON BUT IT WASN’T UNTIL AFTER I HAD MY SON THAT I REALLY DECIDED TO PURSUE CROSSFIT DILIGENTLY. I HAD GAINED WAY MORE THAN THE RECOMMENDED BABY WEIGHT AND IN MY MIND CROSSFIT WAS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO GET BACK IN SHAPE.

How long have you been a member of CrossFit 3040?

I HAVE ONLY BEEN A MEMBER OF CROSSFIT 3040 SINCE APRIL OF 2017 BUT I HAVE BEEN DOING CROSSFIT FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS.

What is your favorite benchmark/hero WOD and why?

I’D HAVE TO SAY MY FAVORITE BENCH MARK WOD TODAY IS ANNIE. ITS THE ONLY ONE I CAN GET THROUGH RX AND UNBROKEN WITHOUT  FEELING LIKE I’M GOING TO DIE AT THE END.

What do you consider your proudest moment or greatest accomplishment at 3040?

ANYTIME I HIT A PR IS A PROUD MOMENT FOR ME AT 3040. WHEN I FIRST STARTED WILLIE WORKED WITH ME ON MY SNATCH AND I PR’D IN THE TRIPLE DIGITS WHICH WAS AWESOME! ALSO, I WAS REALLY PROUD AND SOMEWHAT SHOCKED AT MY 190 FRONT SQUAT I DID THE OTHER DAY. I JUST KEPT PUTTING ON WEIGHTS WITHOUT ADDING IT IN MY HEAD AND SQUATTED UNTIL I FELT MY FORM START TO GIVE. I’M COMING FOR THAT 200 CLUB!!!

How has getting in shape changed your life?

GETTING IN SHAPE HAS PRETTY MUCH SAVED MY LIFE. I USE TO LIVE A REALLY UNHEALTHY LIFESTYLE. DRINKING AND SMOKING AMONGST OTHER THINGS WAS THE NORM FOR ME BUT NOT WITH CROSSFIT IN MY LIFE. IT HOLDS ME ACCOUNTABLE. I’M IN THE BEST SHAPE OF MY  LIFE MIND, BODY AND SOUL AND I WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. NOW, IF I COULD JUST STOP GETTING OLDER AND SLEEP A LITTLE BIT MORE.

What are your favorite things to do outside of CrossFit?

WATCHING COWBOYS GAMES WITH MY BEST FRIEND AND SPENDING TIME WITH MY SON. I WORK A LOT SO MY TIME IS LIMITED. MONDAYS  ARE MY DAY OFF AND I REFER TO THEM AS “MOMMY AND MADDON MONDAYS.” I TAKE HIM PLACES AND WE PLAY AND PLAY. SOMETIMES I DON’T KNOW WHO HAS MORE FUN, HIM OR ME 😉
